Making Room for Beauty

This week as I was having my full-moon existential crisis, a flash of dewdrop magic alit in my heart. See, I’m at a point in my earthly progression where there is nothing I truly need, just puddles of wishes and wants (should I step in them, play, and splash — or avoid them?). Preferences rather than things that determine my joy or sense of Self.

Most of my life has been a spiritual quest to wake up, transcend, ascend, go beyond. Hot pursuit of Awakened Mind. Along the way, I’ve had insights and released blocks and bindings. But lately, it feels like there’s nothing new to explore. So I sat within that heart space for many months. And I wake up each morning, do my work for the day, and exist as simply and clearly and happily as I can. Still, there’s a feeling of what is the point?

Anyhow, in the past year, the question I keep asking my highest Self is, “What now?” Lately, I’ve felt this pretty intensely. A lifetime of study and practice within a few spiritual and wisdom traditions pretty damn deeply. Nothing new rising to the surface. So, what now?

Here I am, biding my time on planet Earth. And then one day not long ago, I turned on Spotify. And I discovered this incredible musician that blew some of the dust out of my heart. Redi Hasa’s album “The Stolen Cello” has my poet’s heart contented.

A few days ago, I sat on the couch, whining to myself. What now?

The softest reply flooded forth from my heart.

Enjoy beauty. Make beauty. Share beauty. For that is the best of what our human experience can create.

After so many years of deconstructing my old patterns and ways of thinking and being because that is the work I came here to do, Mama Universe is saying ‘Celebrate what is good. And be free.

Yeah. So, I’m gonna do that now. What about you?

Be well, my loves,

Andrea Mai
